Restoring Overberg Renosterveld
The Overberg’s Lowland Renosterveld is one of the world’s most endangered ecosystems. With less than 5% remaining, this rich, clay-soil habitat is home to an incredible diversity of plant species—many found nowhere else on Earth.
Once a grass-rich landscape grazed by wildlife like rhino and eland, much of it has been lost to agriculture. What’s left is fragmented and under threat from overgrazing and poor land management.
It’s now more important than ever to protect this unique part of our natural heritage.
